Podpeskar has extra incentive — his twin brother Josh — to be at his best in every meet. “There is a huge competition between us,” Daniel said. “Competing against your twin and trying to beat him every race is always a battle.” Here is a closer look at Daniel:

The best movie I’ve seen in the last year? “This Is the End.”

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me: Funny; trustworthy; focused.

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are … “Piano Man” by Billy Joel; “More Than a Feeling” by Boston; “Stay Down” by Freddie Gibbs.

What are your three favorite apps? Twitter; Fantasy Football; ESPN Score Center.

Who do you like to follow on Twitter the most, and why? My friend [and teammate] Will Dyke because every one of his tweets provides a good laugh.

At my first varsity practice, I felt … comfortable because the other varsity athletes were good friends of mine.

What did you work on most prior to the start off the season? Trying to log over 500 miles running and lifting weights.

What is your goal the remainder of this season? To make it to the state cross-country meet.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? When I was elected captain of the cross-country team by my teammates. [Josh is also a captain].

Do you have a secret talent, and if so, what is it? I can telepathically communicate with my twin brother.

In 10 years, I hope I … am fresh out of law school with a job and a home.
