And the winner is...MN Volleyball Hub top performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from Oct. 3-8.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Volleyball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Ayana Bougie-Martinez, St. Paul Highland Park. The senior setter was a highlight in the Scots' 3-2 loss at St. Paul Como Park on Oct. 3, tallying a season-high 40 set assists. She then recorded a combined 63 set assists in the Scots’ back-to-back home wins later in the week against St. Paul Central and St. Paul Harding. She added 39 digs between the three matches.

Top performer candidates

Maddy Benka, Minnehaha Academy. The junior outside hitter continues to have an impressive season, sitting second in the state with 323 kills on the season. Benka started last week with 25 kills and 15 digs in the Redhawks’ five-set win against West Lutheran. The next night she recorded 30 kills, 13 digs and 4 services aces in a 3-2 loss to Providence Academy. Benka closed out the week with 16 kills and eight digs as the Redhawks defeated St. Paul Academy in straight sets on Oct. 6.

Macy Grosz, West Central Area. The sophomore setter recorded a season-high 51 set assists on Oct. 6 against Minnewaska Area. In addition to her contribution on offense, she also tallied a season-high 28 digs. In the entirety of the five sets, the Knights were only outscored by seven points in the loss. 

Khendal Johnson, St. Michael-Albertville. The senior setter easily surpassed her previous season high in set assists during the Knights’ 3-2 win against Monticello on Oct. 4. Johnson contributed 52 set assists — 17 more than her previous season high — and added 12 digs.

McKenzie Schwichtenberg, Belle Plaine. Schwichtenberg led a pair of 3-1 wins for the Tigers last week, defeating Mankato West and Norwood Young America. The senior setter recorded more than 40 set assists in each game, tallying 90 total between the two matches.
